The CT FlexiFurl is a low-cost flexible sail batten for use with furling headsails. Traditionally the only possibility for supporting the leech of a furling headsail has been battens placed in a vertical orientation (with respect to the leech). As CT FlexiFurl battens can be placed perpendicular to the leech they provide better support, thereby improving performance. The curved sides of the CT FlexiFurl form a stiff horizontal beam when the batten is straight or slightly curved (i.e. while sailing). As the batten comes in contact with the forestay its sides compress flat. The flexible polycarbonate can assume the tight curve needed when furling around the forestay without breaking.
