RingProp – names new distributor
Technical details
Producer: RingProp (UK)

RingProp PLC have announced that its patented propellers in Sweden will distribute the Bat & Byggnadsvard pa Lidingo AB. RingProp has distributors in the US, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
RingProp technology is the result of a 15 year research program, applying state of the art Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and involving four of the world’s leading hydrodynamic research facilities. The RingProp looks like a conventional propeller with a ring surrounding the blades but it is actually a unique, technologically advanced propulsion system. RingProp is a simple concept perfected. RingProp has no exposed blade tips, generating more thrust, reduced ‘blow-out’ and torque-steer giving marked improvement in overall performance and maneuverability. The ring’s hydrofoil profile and special blade design combines hydrodynamic performance with structural integrity. These result in superior handling, with increased strength and stiffness to the blades. RingProp reduces the need to fit "dolphin fins" or other hydrofoils to the outboard as its design helps to lift the boat onto the plane and eliminate ventilation on turns - spin the wheel into a 180 degree turn with no loss of performance.
Torque steer - the tendency for the boat to steer in the direction of propeller rotation - is substantially reduced. This can remove the need for trim tabs or counter rotating propellers in twin applications. The development team aim to reduce, to as large a degree as possible, the likelihood of laceration injuries which can be inflicted on people or marine life in the water.
RingProp´s patented Torc-Loc® universal hub system is provided with the propeller and allows one prop to fit a number of engine brands. It also allows the hub to be fitted at home without the need for specialized equipment.
The Torc-Loc design ensures true centering on the prop shaft and protects the drive train from high shock loads caused by gear changes or collision with underwater obstacles. The patented ring design provides structural support to the propeller blades and provides them some protection from striking underwater objects, since the blade tips are not exposed. The propellers are manufactured from corrosion resistant alloy by RingProp´s manufacturing partner - one of the world´s leading die casting companies. RingProps have a two stage, high gloss powder coat finish. RingProp´s hydrofoil ring can help prevent fouling in weeds, such as kelp. It can also combat the fouling of anchor ropes, mooring lines, nets and ski ropes, since there are no exposed tips to catch and spin the obstruction around the propeller shaft.
