X-Yachts X-50 Performance

The international debut of the X-50 Performance is scheduled for the autumn of 2004 when the first hull shall hit the water. The design of the deck layout enables her to be easily manoeuvred by a short-handed cruising family. However, with two independent steering positions that provide added safety and allow the helmsman a clear view ahead, even with a full regatta crew onboard, the X-50 will fail no one, displaying her performance characteristics.
The interior of the X-50 Performance provides a luxurious environment below deck, where two layouts are available in Classic 3 cabin version and Modern 3 cabin version. The deck has been kept clear of ropes by leading the mainsheet and other controls under the deck and coach roof to dedicated winches on each side. Further design features are recessed spray hood on stainless steel framework, hull recessed portlights, below deck recessed furling headstay, deck recessed anchor winch. The main design features above deck are chrome polished skylights and portlights, teak laid deck in cockpit and foldable mooring cleats. Below deck design feauters are teak interior using the best grade teak veneers, none slip teak floorboards with inserted décor lines, sleeping berths with battens under cold foam cushions and sky screen roller and mosquito blinds fitted to the hatches in the saloon and owners’ cabin. The construction features on new X-50 are - hull and deck built from sandwich construction to save weight and to achieve a very rigid construction that reduces condensation in both hot and cold climates. For increased sailing performance and pleasure the hot-galvanised high-strength steel girder absorbs loads form the keel, mast and rig, thereby allowing very high rig tension. At the transom two recessed, flush mounted hatches (with gas struts) provide access to storage space below the cockpit. Two cockpit seats/lockers can be fitted on top of the two openings, replacing the hatches, providing more storage space and additional seating.
