Grand Soleil 37

The Grand Soleil 37´, the smallest of the range, is designed by Botin & Carkeek (Spain). After two years of collaboration with these designers (Grand Soleil 42´ Race and 56´ Race) and numerous victories on all racing circuits, the Grand Soleil 37´ is the first cruiser of this new collaboration. She is available in two or three cabins with one heads.
This sailing boat had already proven herself on her debut in the French racing field, finished first in her class IRC 2, which proves efficiency of this racer-cruiser concept. It is a result of attention paid to satisfying requirements for IMS rating especially in the fields such as construction technology, keel and rudder wetted areas as well as the hull lines themselves. Positioning of the main sheet traveller behind the tiller, is appropriated from the former model which is not anymore in the production, 34.1. Hull and deck are built in a sandwich of closed cell foam with vinylester resin in the first layers. Further reinforcements are positioned in high stress areas. Internal grid in galvanised steel glued with acrylic glue and bonded to the hull, so it carries all strains from the mast, shrouds and the keel. Both mast and boom are made in light alloy. The mast is stepped on the galvanized grid. The 9/10 rig is equiped with swept back double spreadors. Rudder shaft is made of stainless steel with two self-aligning ball bearings. Cast iron keel is fixed with ten stainless steel bolts and protected against rust with a layer of fibreglass, filled with polyester filler and painted with light primer. Standard engine is 27 HP Volvo diesel with S-drive (optional Volvo 40 hp), which servicing is facilitated since by the access from all sides. Grand Soleil 37 in a standard manner is delivering with three cabins and single bathroom, while the owner´s version with two cabins has separated bathroom and shower cabin. The interior joinery is stained mahogany which has been treated with polyurethane and then buffed to a shine.
