Comar Comet 51 Sport

51´s sports version with open stern considerably differs from more comfortable models with a central cockpit and a pilot deckhouse. Although her overall length exceeds CC´s and DH´s for 30 centimetres, her waterline is 20 centimetres shorter. However, 51 S is 25% lighter, with significantly larger sail plan, which is, after all, reasonably expected from a racing cruiser. Boaters who intend 51 S for serious engaging in racing field battles, can order model with even better performances which weight is reduced for a tone by using epoxy resins and embedding carbon-fibre mast and boom. Deck equipment (Harken, Lewmar and Solimar) is supremely made and available in versions with either one or two steering wheels. Features that enhance 51 Sport’s racing profile are large removable aft storage (useful during cruises, while reducing stern’s weight on regattas) and 9/10 rigged mast with three aft swept spreaders and low ratio between the height and the weight, which additionally contributes to the boat’s stability. Simple interior (woodwork made of American cherry) serves its purpose, but significantly lags behind two previously mentioned models. However, for a sports racer, the reproach is not an important one, since comfort stays on a level adequate for the belonging category. This sailing boat is delivered with either three or four cabins with two heads.
