METS 2007, the world´s largest annual trade exhibition of marine equipment and accessories for the leisure marine sector, took place from November 13 – 15. The giant showcase of technological and design world firsts, now in its 20th consecutive year, opened with the traditional awards ceremony dedicated to the most innovative products presented by the exhibitors.
The DAME 2007 was awarded to OPACMARE for the "Teaky Beach": an electronically controlled chaise longue than can be fully built-in to the stern platform, the relaxation area of the fly or the fore sundeck of boats over 65 feet (20 meters). The Teaky Beach also came first in the category: Interior equipment, furnishings, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins.
The chaise longue is composed of three hinged sections that can be raised to accommodate a fitted mattress, but when lowered sinks into the deck less than 3 inches (55mm) leaving the area completely obstacle free. It is available in either slatted teak or fibreglass with a closed cell polyurethane mattress upholstered in specific marine fabric.
