Gleistein ropes - Maximum travel + minimal loss
Technical details
Producer: Gleistein Ropes (DE )

Two ropes from Gleistein Ropes are specially designed for the toughest racing applications: Mega T-Eight and MegaTwin Zylon. Both ropes are characterised by extremely high strength, minimal elongation and very good handling characteristics. For competition, this means: wind and weather can be transformed into maximum travel with minimal loss.

Mega T-Eight: the perfect halyard
It does not creep and definitely comes clean – these properties make Mega T-Eight the perfect halyard when racing. Its strength and elongation are comparable to those of a wire rope; only its weight makes working with Mega T-Eight much more pleasant. The Dyneema SK78 used reduces the tendency to creep to a minimum and therefore the halyard does not need to be adjusted so often – a tangible advantage during use in regattas. Added to this is an abrasion-resistant cover, which is also suitable for stoppers. Structure:
- core 12-plait from Dyneema SK78 fibres
- intermediate cover from polyester staple fibres
- cover 24 or 32-plait from high tenacity polyester in fluo-yellow and fluo-pink, navy blue markers
- Gleistein orange identification yarn
Mega T-Eight is available in thicknesses of 8 to 16 millimetres; other diameters are manufactured according to customers’ wishes. MegaTwin Zylon is available in diameters of 4 to 16 millimetres.

For the toughest racing applications – MegaTwin Zylon
The extremely high strength and minimal elongation make MegaTwin Zylon an internationally top-class rope. Owing to its excellent abrasion resistance and its very strong rope cross section, it is suitable for the toughest racing applications. The water-repellent coating keeps the rope dry during use. This reduces crystallisation of salt inside the rope and increases its service life. The cover in polyester is extremely abrasion resistant with a high degree of flexibility – one reason why Team BMW ORACLE Racing relies on the rope.
Structure:
- core 12-plait from Zylon (PBO) fibres with water-repellent cover
- cover 32-plait from high tenacity polyester
- Gleistein orange identification yarn
- basic colour grey, navy blue markers
MegaTwin Zylon is available in diameters of 4 to 16 millimetres.
