Technical details
Producer: Cummins MerCruiser (USA)

Cummins Mercruiser Diesel [CMD] has launched its latest product aimed at the performance boat market. Utilising the technological strengths of its two parent companies, the new package combines the power of the Cummins QSB5.9 480 hp diesel engine with the hydrodynamic performance and flexibility of Mercury Racing’s popular NXT1 sterndrive.
The QSB5.9 480 hp has the best power–to-weight ratio of any marine diesel in its class and its technologically advanced design and high-pressure, common-rail fuel system makes it one of the quietest, cleanest and most reliable engines on the waterfront. Inherent diesel durability means more time afloat and less time out of commission.
The NXT1 sterndrive is designed and built by performance legend Mercury Racing, to be the most versatile high-performance drive in the industry. Featuring a compact, integrated transmission, the drive can be installed in close-coupled, jackshaft or staggered applications. Single, twin and triple installations are possible, so the package can be tailored to fit the widest range of performance hull configurations. The NXT1 drive has Enhanced Corrosion Protection, featuring an anodized transom/drive assembly, with an integrated MerCathode system. (www.bymnews.com)
