Gleistein mooring lines – greater strength, smaller size
Technical details
Producer: Gleistein Ropes (DE )

The two mooring lines from Gleistein Ropes go by the names of PowerPlait XS and Power12 XS. The braids possess one of the highest break loads on the market and are designed for the highest demands. Owing to a special finishing process, Gleistein have increased the break strength by more than 40 per cent.

PowerPlait XS and Power12 XS
The two mooring lines PowerPlait XS, a square line and Power12 XS, a 12-plait round braid, achieve more than 40 per cent greater break strength size for size than equivalent ropes of a similar material and construction. These properties are achieved by the use of high tenacity modified polypropylene yarns (Polysteel). Even without further refinement, the material has approximately 20 per cent greater strength than the commonly available PP lines according to DIN EN ISO 1346. PowerPlait XS and Power12 XS are also characterised by very good abrasion resistance, buoyancy and an excellent price-performance ratio. The light green, silk-matt finish lends a high quality appearance to the mooring lines.

The mooring lines are available in diameters of 24 to 64 millimetres. The break load ranges from 145 kN (PowerPlait XS and Power12 XS in 24 mm) to 960 kN (PowerPlait XS) and 1180 kN (Power12 XS) for the 64 millimetre-thick line.
