Contest 42CS

New Contest 42CS design was unveiled at Boot Dusseldorf, 2012. As one of the few semi-custom yards in the world to build in composites according to Lloyd’s regulations, Contest is known for its innovative approach and the new 42CS is no exception.

“Although we have previously built yachts within this size range, the new 42CS will be a significant departure,” comments Contest managing director Arjen Conijn. “She will be the epitome of the ‘Life. Style. Sailing.’ template, offering superior functionality, premium quality materials and engineering, and the very latest technologies in build production and onboard systems. Her uncluttered deck layout will ensure that the yacht is easy to sail.

And in addition to performance, the new 42CS will be an aesthetic delight, with truly lovely lines.” The design of the Contest 42CS reflects the yard’s conviction that an aft cockpit makes optimal use of the available space both above and below deck on yachts of this length. It also gives the 42CS a sporty look, which is exactly what designer Georg Nissen and Contest Yachts had in mind for this model. “The entire design is aimed to make the yacht perform at its best in all weather conditions and offer a multifunctional character,” Contest director Arjen Conijn comments. “The large cockpit provides plenty of room for the crew to move around. The reef genoa drum has been placed below deck and the fore deck kept free and orderly. “Sail trimming and other actions can be performed quickly and effectively thanks to the smart arrangement of winches and lines. And, naturally, we equipped this performance cruiser with fractional rigging and angled spreaders.”

Contest Yachts has seen an increasing demand among clients for a yacht in the 42ft class. The new 42CS will have a clear appeal to families looking to sail with children onboard, while at the same time having all the comfort for more experienced sailors looking for the ultimate sailing performance. She will be different to anything else on the market, combining unrivalled Contest quality with various customisation options. An impressively spacious and light interior include an owner’s suite plus the choice of one or two guest cabins. “The Contest 42CS will be a textbook case of forward thinking as we aim to deliver the ultimate family performance cruiser,” concludes Conijn.
