Sciallino 46 Gemy

New Sciallino is called ‘Sciallino Gemy’, exactly like the first fibreglass model produced in the ‘70s. Although just a 25 feet boat, it ushered in a new era. At that time, there was so much expectation, trepidation, commitment, and great enthusiasm… and it is because of these four ingredients that today they have given the same name to Sciallino’s new flagship boat.
The structural length of the hull is 14.52 m (15.94 m overall length with the bridge) and is 4.70 m width. Keel and bottom are typically Sciallino style, deriving from the proven experience with the 34 feet boat. Special focus was given to boat efficiency, with the introduction of some new construction features: despite Gemy’s 21,000 kg displacement, it will be fitted with ‘only’ two 480 HP engines to ensure a cruising speed in line with Sciallino most recent tradition, up to a constant 20 knot speed, with maximum comfort.
Technology to improve all crucial phases in Gemy’s navigation and management is also an important part. For example, the S40 electric system on board has been further upgraded and improved. Initially developed in 1999, it challenged then the nautical industry in all its applications on the entire range of Sciallino yachts. Some major overhaul will also take place in the engine room, involving fuel control and engine noise reduction.
Sciallino’s own ‘raw material’ has been extensively used for the boat style and external line. Some new (or rather old) elements are to be found here too, if compared to the recent S30 and S40 models. For example, the gunwale has been removed, thus leaving the bow alone to solemnly represent its robust boat construction, capable of withstanding even the roughest seas. A ‘think big’ design approach has been followed for the whole deck: mooring equipment and related accessories, winch and anchor, sideways, handrails and manropes, they all contribute to a navetta look, while proving their valuable use during daily boat navigation.
On-board life has been focused upon when defining the construction design rationale. Indoor spaces host the master’s family and their guests in different rooms, with three separate cabins, two bathrooms, a large galley, and a caboose that can also be converted to host a crew member.
All boat structures, furniture, cabinets, covering and finishing are made of wood, only and exclusively wood. Today it is difficult, if not impossible, to find boats on the market where precious wood is used not just as a thin external covering layer, as a shadow of what Nature can offer. Conversely, Gemy has inherited the genuine Sciallino’s tradition - to be still able to express the soul of the boat, in harmony with the sea, which together can touch the spirit of the real sailor.
